April 19 South Africa (Turffontein) form analysis (2025)

Race 1 (1,000m)

Two runners, (2) FAR BEYOND and (9) QUEEN'S PACT, have shown some potential and both should be in the firing line. The former ran a decent race on soft ground on debut and could be the one to beat even if bred for further. Queen's Pact shows good pace and must be better than her last start when fading out over further.

Rafeef debutante (7) MYSTICAL MISS hails from the Sean Tarry yard and is bred to fly, so could attract betting support.

(6) JAZZ PIANIST is another filly by Rafeef who needs to be respected. Follow the betting moves closely.

Race 2 (1,000m)

More well-bred first-timers to consider including One World colt (2) ONE TIGER as well as a Vercingetorix filly out of a Fastnet Rock mare, (9) SPIRITRIX. It could be a thriller and perhaps a form line to follow.

(3) SCORPIO, a son of Gimmethegreenlight, showed fair potential in his debut outing and returns after a rest and gelding. He could offer more this time.

(7) OPERA FAN has done little wrong and is getting better with each start. She should be right there.

(6) SUNSET WARRIOR was not disgraced after a slow start and can earn if not looking for ground.

Race 3 (1,400m)

Useful juveniles and some are open to improvement going further.

(5) SISTER GOLDEN HAIR won a nice race when tried over ground for the second time. She has the experience to take advantage again.

(2) CRYSTAL GROVE has drawn well and looks a big threat. She met a promising sort in her second start and is also bred to prefer the extra.

(4) RED PENNY made good improvement last time and gave the impression he could be well suited to this 1,400m.

(1) READ ALL ABOUT IT was fancied in a feature race after a fluent debut win. He can only improve.

Race 4 (2,850m)

It has been amazing to watch (2) ROMEO'S MAGIC throughout his career. He was a decent horse over different distances but he seems to have now found a new lease of life as a stayer.

He ran on well to beat (1) TO THE RESCUE last time and could confirm, even if having more to do at the weights. To The Rescue was not disgraced with top weight last time. He looks a bigger threat this time but needs to get the timing right.

(8) MO MENT was given a perfect ride last time and he won in good style. He could keep going again.

(9) NUCLEAR FORCE could make it tough for the front runners, however.

Race 5 (2,000m)

(4) DARK SILVER is knocking hard at the door. (3) DIESEL'S SHADOW found a good finish to finish ahead of him the last time they met but is 3.5kg worse off for a neck defeat and could battle to confirm. The pair should, nevertheless, both run well in this kind of event.

(6) ARLINGTON ACTION is dropping in distance but is nevertheless not one to take lightly. The versatile sort has a solid record over the course and distance.

(1) BIRTHRIGHT has run with stronger. He could take advantage in this league with a 4kg claimer aboard.

(2) DJ JUNIOR is racing after a break but races fresh and cannot be discounted.

Race 6 (1,400m)

(4) KING OF NUMBERS enjoyed being back over the course and distance last time. He did well even though casting a shoe and could go on to score this time.

Watch out for (2) PAUL REVERE who not only showed he gets the extra but ran well in a much higher class last time. He could be dangerous if repeating the performance.

Filly (3) GREAT NOTION has been finishing off her races well and is proving to be consistent. She could be rewarded.

(1) SHINTO SHRINE (rested) and (6) SOVEREIGNS CALL both have shown potential and need to be respected.

Race 7 (1,400m)

(8) PRESSONREGARDLESS lifted his game in his last two runs. He has more to do this time but could be hard to peg back from gate No. 1.

Watch out for (1) CHOISAANADA who is highly regarded. He has been racing against some of the best around and could realise true potential now gelded.

Rested (2) MASTERSHIP ran some crackers last season and must be watched along with youngsters (10) ORANGE COUNTY and (11) CORRUPT who have scope but may be prepping.

(3) MAX THE MAGICIAN has some very respectable form but (7) WARHAWK BOMBER is weighted to give him a hard time. Nice race.

Race 8 (1,000m)

(9) BOURBON RESERVE has talent but he appears to also have had issues. He could, nevertheless, get his name back up in lights if he regains his best form after a break.

(1) MASTER CASPER is another talented speedster who had things go wrong. He could attract support if back in form.

(5) ADDRESS THE NATION has a good record over the distance and should have fitness on his side.

(2) DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN ran in a strong Grade 3 feature and must be respected too. 
